Why Sun Connect?
History of Success
Sun Connect has successfully supplied, installed and commissioned many of Australia’s largest commercial and industrial solar power systems. With a national installation footprints and clients including household names, as well as a resume of meticulous installations with a photographic cataloguing of which that would impress any potential client, look no further than Sun Connect and we’ll happily show you our past work, and how we will take your organisation into its inevitable ‘solar power transition’ in the near future.
We have one of the most experienced teams not just in Australia, but in the southern hemisphere. Taking our queues from more mature European and North American markets, Sun Connect has helped Australian businesses to pioneer their way into energy independence, energy security, and energy sustainability with our custom designed, independently engineered and high-end commercial and industrial solar power systems / power stations. Want client references? Want to find out more about our recent projects? We’re proud of our work and our client base, so just drop us a line and we can speak further.
“Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.” Warren Buffet. Sun Connect works and lives by this motto. The Australian solar industry has unfortunately been besieged by the ‘cheap and cheerful’ suppliers and installers, who treat solar like a disposable product and convince inexperienced solar buyers / customers to join them in a race to the bottom both of price, and of quality. Sun Connect only deals with high-end components, high-end installers (inhouse and contractors) because the cornerstone principle of solar is, we believe, this simple: do it once, do it right. With a target ROI and lifespan of 25 years for our solar power systems, cutting corners is not an option. So maximum value, comes from maximum system longevity. And that’s what we specialise in accomplishing for our clients.
Our Many Awards
Below are just a few recent awards from our trophy cabinet. We don’t like to be immodest, so we won’t show them all off online. For now at least!
How Do Solar Panel Systems Work?
We often get asked exactly how solar power system works, and in short the solar panels (or photovoltaic modules in the system) are the heart of what is your own, ‘decentralised’ power station. Energy cost cutting is the goal – solar is the vehicle to get you there. Solar panels transform the sun’s rays into usable, renewable electricity. The panels capture the sunlight, convert it into DC current, that current then goes to the ‘brains’ of the system (inverters) where it is converted into AC, and then supplied to your building. What Our Clients Say
“Choosing a high quality commercial grade solar system to power your business will significantly reduce bills and increase the value of a business while reducing its environmental impact from the day it is switched on. It’s a win for business as well as the environment.”
Chris Homutowsky, L & I Electrical
- “The sun rises in the east and sets in the west and in between is able to generate power for you. It gives me a great sense of pride to drive up the road towards the factory and see all 225 solar panels, knowing they are generating power from the sun.”
George Panek, Multipac
- “Solar power not only decreases our bills but insures us against future electricity price hikes. This helps us to control our running costs and impacts the stability of pricing and fees for childcare.”
Peter Brown, Kindarama
- “Sun Connect’s high-quality components will see our system last 25 years or more, shielding us from energy company price hikes and, importantly, sustaining the future generations of Winter family furniture manufacturers.”
Owner, Flamingo (timber manufacturer)
“Installing two systems to 1400 square metres of roof space to power both factories now sees one factory receiving a cheque from its energy retailer and the other has significantly reduced bills”.
Daniel Auld, Managing Director, Eric Jones Stairbuilding
- “Our solar system has been running for 12 months now and our only energy bill in that time was $30. Instead of paying electricity bills we now have credits that we can use. We also received a substantial rebate to install the system, which was a good financial incentive.”
Martin Haines, Proquip
- “The community and our customers recognizes us as a sustainably-managed Small to Medium-sized Enterprise. Which other company can offer its customers carbon neutral, Australian-made smallgoods?”
Mr Klausner, Managing Director, Spiess Australia Smallgoods
- “We can already see savings on our power bills. In the next five years, we’ll definitely start seeing a major Return On Investment, especially now that we are generating our own power on a regular basis. The 750kW solar-powered panel system makes for one of the largest solar-powered systems ever built in Victoria.”
Paul Vawdrey, Vawdrey Australia

"I know saving money is most people's primary driver to switch to solar. Which is perfectly understandable. But switching to something smarter, that also gives them energy independence, energy sustainability and is building this fascinating energy democracy - those are great byproducts."

"Solar isn’t an option. It’s an evolution. And the real fossils in the fossil industry, are the CEO's and power generator stakeholders trying to devolve us back to dirty coal."

"Electricity in and of itself is extraordinary. But coal as the means to generate it is subpar, and superseded."

Sun Connect installs solar panels in the vast majority of Australian metropolitan and regional locations. Established in 2008, although we’re not quite a storied business founded at the turn of the industrial age, we are a business founded at the turn of the renewable age. A lean, mean outfit with extremely high standards, we stand out amongst a crowded solar market that mostly leans towards low end components, low end worksmanship and unfortunately – low end ROI for inexperienced solar buyers. Sun Connect has worked extremely hard to distance itself from the minefield of ‘how low can you go’ solar suppliers and installers.
Our Key People
Mark Tuke, CEO
Mark founded Sun Connect in 2008 and has since grown the company from a standing start to over $15 million in annual revenues; offices in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide; a national installation footprint; and more national awards than any other solar retailer in the Australian market. Mark personally acquired clients including Anglogold Ashanti, ASG, ARG, Ausdrill, Kings, IGA, Schneider and SBS. BigRedSky was subsequently exited to Thomson Reuters after its client base and revenues grew by several hundred per cent during his tenure.
